Subject: Open Records Request - City of Sugar Land - Voter Initiative Opposing Apartments

Mr. Sheffield,

This is to acknowledge receipt of your open records request wherein you requested: “to review the legal opinion from the City that the voter initiative to oppose apartments will not be placed on the ballot by the city even if the required number of signatures are obtained.”

In accordance with Section 552.301 of the Texas Public Information Act, the City will be asking for a decision from the attorney general about whether the information  is within the exception in Section 552.107, regarding attorney-client privileged communication.

The Attorney General has 45 business days, pursuant to Section 552.306 of the Texas Public Information Act, to render a decision, but may extend the period for response by an additional 10 business days, if needed.

Thank you,

Robin Hicks
